Anyone can help – even with a small amount
About us
The story of the family we support
A family from the Donetsk region spent several years building a private shelter for dogs and cats, caring for them mostly from their own savings. As the frontline approached, they had to leave their original place in an emergency together with the animals. The property at the original location has now been destroyed, and the shelter could no longer operate there safely. After moving to the Odesa region, they are providing temporary shelter in emergency conditions, mainly through the work of two older family members.
Power of Kindness z. s. in the Czech Republic coordinates and supports this help through a partner organisation in Ukraine under the same name. Legally these are two separate entities, but on this website we present their story as the reason why the Czech association was founded.
“We are a family from Ukraine, originally from the Donetsk region. A year ago we were forced to move together with our shelter to the Odesa region. Today we take care of around 15 dogs and 25 cats, and our animals need support.”
Main focus of help
Primarily food, veterinary care, basic supplies and keeping the shelter functioning (power, water, safety).
- Local purchasing
- Transparent account (after setup)
- Appropriate public summaries of results
Partner in Ukraine
Same name, separate legal entity
The organisation known in Ukraine as Power of Kindness operates as an independent legal entity. The Czech association supports its work in practice and contractually, for example through local purchases of food and medicine, coordination of help and reporting to donors. This is not a branch relationship.
For security reasons we do not publish precise locations or sensitive details about the facilities. Before publication, photographs are checked and should be free of revealing metadata.
Every contribution matters – even a small one.
Where help goes
Support is directed to animals in need in connection with the war in Ukraine, in practice mainly through our partner’s work on the ground (shelter, temporary care).
For security reasons we do not publish exact locations or operational details. General information about the association and registration is on basic association details (Czech).
How we help
23 April 2026: The association was entered in the Czech public register of associations. A transparent bank account and a single public channel for donations are being prepared—details will appear on Donation information and under basic details (Czech).
We coordinate aid from the Czech Republic but arrange as much as possible directly where it is needed. In practice that means mainly local purchases of food, medicine and other supplies according to the situation.
This approach is often faster and more flexible than shipping goods from the Czech Republic. It also reflects how needs change from day to day.
We only share publicly information and summaries that are safe and meaningful. Detailed accounting, contracts and control material are kept internally as required by law and oversight.
- Donations are directed according to current priorities
- We buy locally wherever possible
- We check aid in the field within practical limits
- Public communication focuses on appropriate summaries (without unnecessary sensitive detail)
Why we buy locally
Buying on the spot often means quicker response, lower transport costs and greater flexibility when needs change overnight.
